16MnCr5 Grade Introduction:

16MnCr5 is an alloyed case-hardening steel known for its core tensile strength of 800-1100 N/mm² and excellent wear resistance. It is commonly used in the manufacturing of mechanical components like piston bolts, camshafts, and levers. 16MnCr5 is available in different shapes such as round, flat, and square steel bars.

16MnCr5 Applications:

Heat Treatment Properties:

The heat treatment of 16MnCr5 involves precise control of temperature, heating and cooling rates, soaking times, and quenching mediums depending on the shape and size of the component.

  • Hardening: Heat to 860-980°C, followed by quenching in oil, water, or a thermal bath.
  • Tempering: Temper at 150-200°C.

Although 16MnCr5 offers satisfactory weldability, cracks may form along welds. Therefore, caution should be exercised when welding.
