EN30B Alloy Steel Introduction:

EN30B Alloy Steel Heat Treatment:

EN30B can undergo various heat treatment processes to enhance its mechanical properties:

  • Annealing: Heat to 820-850°C, hold until temperature is uniform, then cool slowly in the furnace to refine the grain structure.
  • Hardening: Heat to 840-870°C, then quench in oil or water to achieve maximum hardness.
  • Tempering: After hardening, temper at 500-600°C to reduce brittleness and improve toughness, based on desired properties.

EN30B Alloy Steel Hardness:

EN30B alloy steel has a hardness range of 248 – 302 HB in the hardened condition. When tempered, the hardness typically falls within the range of 200 – 280 HB, depending on the tempering temperature.

EN30B Alloy Steel Forging Properties:

EN30B can be forged at temperatures ranging from 850°C to 1150°C. After forging, the material should be cooled slowly in the furnace or sand to avoid the creation of internal stresses and cracking.


EN30B Alloy Steel Stress Relieving:

EN30B should undergo stress-relieving after heavy machining or significant deformation to reduce internal stresses. Stress relieving can be done by heating the steel to 550-650°C, holding it at this temperature for a specified time, and then cooling slowly.


EN30B Alloy Steel Normalizing:

Normalizing of EN30B is performed at a temperature range of 840-880°C followed by air cooling. This process improves mechanical properties and refines the grain structure of the material.


EN30B Alloy Steel Annealing:

EN30B alloy steel is annealed by heating to 820-850°C, soaking until the temperature is uniform, and then slowly cooling in the furnace. This process softens the material and makes it easier to machine.


EN30B Alloy Steel Machinability:

EN30B offers good machinability in the annealed condition. However, due to its high toughness, machining operations such as turning, drilling, and milling should be performed with appropriate tooling and cutting parameters to achieve optimal results.


EN30B Alloy Steel Welding:

Welding of EN30B is not generally recommended due to the high risk of cracking, especially in hardened and tempered conditions. However, if welding is required, preheating to 200-300°C and post-weld heat treatment are recommended to reduce residual stresses and prevent cracking.
