ASTM SA105 Grade Introduction:
Carbon Steel ASTM SA105 Forged Fittings are produced from carbon steel and its alloys. These forged fittings, including elbows, tees, couplings, and flanges, are crafted with high precision to meet international quality standards. ASTM SA105 Grade Application:
This specification is applicable to carbon steel forgings used in piping systems, specifically for making flanges and pipe fittings like 45° elbows, 90° elbows, tees, and couplings for various pressure vessels and piping connections.

ASTM SA105 Hardness:
The hardness of ASTM SA105 ranges between 137-187 HBW.
ASTM SA105 Heat Treatment:
Heat treatment for ASTM SA105 carbon steel is typically not required, though exceptions may arise to enhance mechanical properties. Typical heat treatments include:
- Normalizing (N): Heat at 950°C for 2.5 hours to relieve internal stresses.
- Annealing (A): Heat to 800-830°C, followed by furnace cooling.
- Quenching & Tempering (QT): Quench at 850-870°C, then temper between 425-870°C based on desired properties.
For materials that undergo normalizing, they are marked as ASTM SA105N to indicate the treatment.
ASTM SA105 Hardening:
To harden, the material is heated to 850-870°C, followed by quenching in oil.
ASTM SA105 Tempering:
Tempering occurs between 425-870°C depending on the required properties, followed by air cooling.

ASTM SA105 Forging Properties:
Forging is carried out between 1150°C and 925°C. After forging, normalizing or quenching and tempering are usually performed to improve mechanical properties. It is crucial to avoid forging at temperatures that could lead to surface defects or poor plastic deformation.
ASTM SA105 Stress Relieving:
Stress relieving can be done 50°C below the tempering temperature to reduce internal stress.
ASTM SA105 Annealing:
The annealing process involves heating to 1550-1700°F and allowing the part to cool slowly in the furnace.
ASTM SA105 Normalizing:
For normalizing, heat the material to 830-850°C, followed by air cooling.
