In its annealed state, the hardness typically ranges from 285 to 321 HB. After quenching and tempering, the surface hardness can be increased significantly, with values reaching up to 50-55 HRC depending on the heat treatment process.

Heat Treatment:

45CrNiMoV12 can undergo various heat treatment processes to achieve optimal strength and hardness. Typical treatments include quenching, tempering, and annealing.

Hardening Process:

  1. Heating for hardening: Heat the material to 850-880°C, followed by quenching in oil or water.
  2. Tempering: After quenching, tempering is performed at 500-700°C to enhance toughness while maintaining high strength.

Annealing: Annealing is performed at 800-850°C, followed by slow furnace cooling. This softens the material and improves its machinability.
