EN19 Grade Introduction:
EN19 Steel is a high-quality engineering alloy steel that includes chromium and molybdenum, offering excellent mechanical properties. EN19 Hardness:
EN19 has a Brinell hardness of 197, which provides a balance of strength and machinability.
EN19 Heat Treatment Properties:
EN19 steel is typically heated to 845°C, followed by oil quenching. It can be normalized by heating to 913°C and air-cooled before hardening.
EN19 Hardening:
EN19 can be hardened by cold working or heating and quenching to increase its mechanical properties.
EN19 Tempering:
EN19 can be tempered between 205-649°C, depending on the required hardness level. For example, tempering at 316°C can achieve a tensile strength of 225 ksi, while tempering at 538°C results in a tensile strength of 130 ksi.

EN19 Forging Properties:
EN19 is forged between 926-1205°C, offering excellent hot-working properties.
EN19 Stress Relieving:
- Annealed Condition: Heat to 600-650°C, soak, and cool.
- Hardened Condition: Heat to 500-550°C and stress relieve to reduce internal stresses.
EN19 Normalizing:
Heat the steel to 870-900°C and allow it to cool in still air for normalizing.
EN19 Annealing:
EN19 is annealed by heating to 872°C, followed by slow furnace cooling, to improve machinability.
EN19 Density:
The density of EN19 is 7.85 kg/cm³, making it a relatively high-strength, low-weight material.
EN19 Machinability:
EN19 exhibits good machinability in the annealed condition, making it suitable for turning, milling, and drilling.
EN19 Welding:
EN19 can be welded using conventional methods. However, post-weld heat treatment is recommended to maintain mechanical properties.
