SCM420 Grade Introduction: SCM420 is an alloy steel known for its high hardenability, temper resistance, good weldability, and machinability. With excellent cold plastic strain capacity and reduced cold cracking tendencies, SCM420 is ideal for parts requiring high wear resistance such as gears, shafts, and high-pressure pipes. It is commonly used in carburized structural steel applications.

SCM420 Grade Applications: SCM420 case-hardening steel is widely used for gears, cogwheels, and various open-die steel forgings for general engineering purposes. The material is often supplied in different sizes and can be customized based on specific composition needs.

SCM420 Hardness: The typical hardness ranges between 352 and 362 HB.

Heat Treatment: SCM420 undergoes final heat treatment followed by a suitable drawing pass.

Hardening Process:

  • 1st Oil Cooling: 850~900℃
  • 2nd Oil Cooling: 800~850℃

Tempering: The tempering process is carried out at 150-200℃, followed by air cooling.
